Women in Bus and Coach London & South Region invites you to join an interactive webinar exploring how the bus and coach sector can help create safer travel experiences for women and girls.
Delivered in partnership with Understood and led by Claire Howell and Carolyn Quainton, this 90-minute session will give attendees practical insight into the national Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Driver CPC training programme and the role operators, leaders and drivers can play in creating safer, more supportive environments across the sector.
This is not about expecting drivers to become heroes. It’s about understanding how small, safe actions, awareness and organisational support can make a meaningful difference.
What the webinar will explore:
- Why VAWG matters within the bus and coach sector
- How women and girls can experience public transport differently
- How inappropriate behaviour can begin, escalate and become normalised
- Why many incidents go unreported
- The Four Ds bystander framework for safe and proportionate action
- Real-world scenarios from the driver perspective
- The importance of reporting, leadership support and workplace culture
- How operators can implement the training through Train the Trainer and Lead Trainer pathways
An interactive session
This webinar is designed to be interactive with a mixture of polls, scenario-based discussion, breakout activities and optional verbal participation so attendees are encouraged to join with sound, and camera where possible, to get the most from the session. However, nobody will be required to speak and there will be opportunities to participate through chat or simply listen throughout.
