Loveday Ryder Women in Bus and Coach Ambassador September 2025

Former Chief Executive Officer, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)

Loveday Ryder was appointed Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in January 2021, stepping into the transport sector at a time of significant challenge. Since then, she has led the agency through a period of rebuilding testing capacity post-pandemic, with a particular focus on tackling car practical test waiting times. She has worked closely with industry to improve commercial vehicle testing services and continues to promote safer roads through targeted enforcement and the DVSA’s Earned Recognition scheme, which highlights the best and safest operators. Within the agency, she has championed greater efficiencies while improving services for customers.

Prior to DVSA, Loveday was Chief Executive of BPDTS Ltd, delivering specialist digital technology services to the Department for Work and Pensions. She also spent 12 years at the Ministry of Justice, where she held senior leadership roles and most notably directed large-scale, multi-agency digital transformation programmes. Before joining the Civil Service in 2006, Loveday built a successful career in management consultancy, specialising in organisation design, process improvement, and programme delivery. She began her professional journey as a chartered civil engineer, working in both design and construction.

Loveday formally accepted her Women in Bus and Coach Ambassadorship at the Third Women in Bus and Coach Annual Summit on 30 September 2025. Her appointment reflects her strong commitment to leadership, advocacy, and inclusion.
