First Bus
At First Bus, we’re on a mission to get more people to use the bus. It’s why we exist. Our aim is to help promote and cement the status of the bus as a great value, credible everyday choice.
We’re not asking anyone to suddenly sell their car and convert to being a full-time bus user overnight (although we’d love it if they did!). We’re simply asking more people to consider using the bus as one of the most environmentally friendly choices you can make.
First Bus is going to stand up for the humble bus and tell the world why it’s the future. For society, for local economies, for the planet – for all.
We exist to grow bus usage, so we’ll get behind any initiative that moves people out of their cars and onto the bus. We’ll continue to invest in our people, our product and state-of-the-art technology as we look to improve our customers’ experience.
We’re transforming our business for our colleagues too, with an aim to make First Bus a place where everyone can feel welcome, be their true selves and succeed together. All while working towards our goal of a fully zero-emission bus fleet by 2035, and complete net zero emissions by 2050. Harnessing the talent amongst us and upskilling our people to take them on this journey with us. Not because of rules or regulations, but because it’s the right thing to do.
Ensuring every decision we make is centred around our drive to get more people on the bus again.

National Express
National Express is the UK’s largest scheduled coach operator.
In 2019, over 21 million passengers made a journey with us. We are headquartered in Birmingham, with locations across the country. Our national network serves hundreds of UK towns and cities.
We run round-the-clock services to the UK’s major airports and our festival and events services take customers to sporting and music events as well as festivals. Coaches are essential to a strong and well-connected national transport network, and we work hard to grow the coach market to enhance the UK’s transport offer. Safety is our number one priority.
Our fleet has market-leading safety features, and we work across our entire business to drive safety improvements. In 2021, we received a five-star audit rating from The British Safety Council for the eighth consecutive year. Coach travel is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of transport. We have continually invested in the cleanest and most efficient vehicles available to us.

RATP Dev
RATP Dev Transit London is one of the largest bus operators in London, running 1,200 buses and carrying some 231 million customers every year safely to their destinations.
We run 103 routes in and around the capital, mostly under contract to Transport for London (TfL), the capital’s transport authority. TfL has ‘ownership’ of all bus routes in London and awards them to bus operators through a competitive tendering process, usually for a term of seven years.
We run our bus routes from 10 operational bases. Many of our bus routes are 24-hour operations and most run seven days a week.
As well as daily commuters, our diverse customer base includes shoppers, tourists, visitors to London and people travelling to hospital appointments. Our uniformed, knowledgeable drivers are trained to recognise the special travel requirements of all customers, and this can include wheelchair users, the partially sighted, the hard of hearing and visitors to the capital who do not speak English and are lost.
We are highly supportive of ‘green’ transport solutions and look for ways of reducing the impact our operations have on the environment. With over 29% of our in-service fleet being fully electric, we have the third greatest proportion of electric buses in our fleet within the London market.
We currently operate 18 electric routes from five converted garages, and we are working towards a fully electric fleet by 2030. This is in line with the Mayor of London’s ambitious plans for a zero-emissions bus fleet in the capital by 2034.

Uno
Uno is owned by the University of Hertfordshire and began running buses back in 1992, then called University Bus. This grew out of a shuttle service previously operated for students at Wall Hall College near Watford, connecting them with the other campuses of the University. Our buses were painted white and grey, a far cry from today's bold colours.
Right from the start anyone could travel on these buses, but as we took on more routes and our services became more popular, it was necessary to rebrand the company and thus University Bus became Uno in 2005. A bright new colour scheme was introduced, and our buses are a regular sight all over Hertfordshire and the surrounding area. In 2012 we started running buses in Northampton, and a year later our Cranfield depot opened that runs buses to Bedford and Milton Keynes.
Today, we continue to invest heavily in both our staff and our fleet. Our drivers receive regular training, and our fleet is more modern than ever. Most of our buses have free on-board Wi-Fi and a growing number have USB charging sockets. Our largest depot is a purpose-built facility on Hatfield Business Park. We’re proud of our roots and are continually looking at how we can improve what we do for our passengers now and in the future.

Wrightbus
For over 75 years, as a family-run business, we’ve helped people reach their destinations all over the world. We’ve built iconic vehicles that have defined transport and added character to our cities and towns including the StreetCar in Las Vegas and the New Routemaster in London.
And now, after the successful launch of our groundbreaking zero emission product line we are carrying passengers into a cleaner future.
We remain the only British manufacture that manufacturers both single and double deck battery and fuel cell electric buses. Together with Queens University Belfast, we have an ability to carry out a range of academic-backed modelling analysis which is highly accurate, detailed and forms a key principle in the recommendation of the suggested battery capacity and vehicle performance.
Under Jo Bamford’s leadership, Wrightbus is embarking on a new trajectory of innovation and environmental awareness. Just as with our Hydrogen bus, we’re applying new energy solutions to help our vehicles meet their zero-emission targets. We are also creating more green economy UK jobs across our UK centric supply chain for our zero-emission buses.
For the world that has been waiting on greener buses, they have arrived.
