Tell us a little bit about your journey

While at school I had every intention and going to university to study paediatric nursing. After changing my mind last minute, I had agreed with my dad to come and work for him only for the year until I decided what I wanted to do.

How did you get to where you are today?

During that year I became learning the ins and outs of running a coach company and decided this was what I wanted to do. Early 2023 I decided I wanted to further my knowledge and sit the Transport Manager CPC exam. Successfully doing so, I have now been in my position for over a year.

Did you experience any challenges getting to where you are today?

Yes, mainly a lot of mental challenges. I experienced a lot of self-doubt as to wither or not this is what I should be doing, but also if I was too young to be working in the coach industry.

If so, how did you overcome then?

Overcoming it has been hard. I found being as confident as I could be really helped. Learning to understand that it doesn’t matter what age you, there is always space for everyone in the industry.

What do you like about the sector? What inspired you to get involved?

I like that there is always room for different opportunities. You don’t have to be a driver to be involved in the sector.

What did a typical day look like?

No two days are the same in this industry. I typically start my day by doing a little school run for a local school before coming into the office to answer emails, helping to allocate jobs for the coming days etc.

What advice would you give to women thinking about a career in the bus, coach or community transport sector?

Please do it! There is so much room for women here.

What has been your bus, coach or community transport sector career highlight?

Despite only being involved in the sector for a little over 2 years, my highlight has been having the courage to sit the TM CPC exam. But also having the courage to join the WiBC subgroup.

What things could the bus, coach or community transport sector do to improvement the industry for Women?

Encourage more women to join the industry.
Help make feminine hygiene products more affordable.

What changes have you seen since in the sector since you joined?

WiBC being introduced and seeing how important it is.

Anything else you would like to share?

I would encourage anyone who has thought about joining or supporting WiBC to do so! It’s great to see such a large group of women, and men, so passionate about supporting women in the industry.

Thank you for sharing Chloe — your journey is a real source of inspiration!
