Today we focus on and find out about:
Beulah DaCunha
Regional Manager
IntSol Recruitment
What is your role?
I am the Regional Manager at Intsol Recruitment, overseeing multiple contracts within the bus and coach industry and supporting both clients and candidates across the sector.
How did you get to where you are today?
My journey has been shaped by a diverse background across different industries; from pharmaceuticals and marketing to recruitment and transport. Each role taught me something valuable, from stakeholder management to operational efficiency.
Over the years, I have grown into my current role as Regional Manager at INTSOL Recruitment, a respected leader in the Transport Recruitment industry.
INTSOL Recruitment has provided me with the opportunity to build strong client relationships, manage teams and consistently deliver high standards of service. It has been a journey of learning, adapting, and leading with purpose.
Did you experience any challenges getting to where you are today?
Yes, like many others, I faced a few challenges along the way—navigating a career change across industries but I picked up different skills along the way, learning and adapting to fast-paced environments and at times having to prove myself a little more extra in a traditionally male-dominated sector 😉
Balancing client expectations while managing large teams also came with its pressures. However, each challenge pushed me to grow, stay resilient, and build the confidence and leadership skills that have shaped my career today.
If so, how did you overcome then?
I focused on staying adaptable and open to learning. Building strong relationships and surrounding myself with supportive mentors and colleagues made a huge difference. I also learned to trust my instincts, speak up with confidence, and not shy away from challenges. Over time, experience taught me how to navigate pressure, stay focused and keep growing both personally and professionally.
What do you like about the sector?
I love how dynamic and people-focused the sector is. I love the people in this sector, as it is full of hardworking, dedicated professionals who take pride in what they do. No two days are the same. I also appreciate the complexity and pace of the bus and coach sector. It requires strategic thinking to manage peaks in demand, support compliance, and ensure continuity of service for the public. Being able to support clients with workforce planning while also mentoring our candidates to thrive in these roles makes the work incredibly fulfilling.
What does a typical day look like?
My day is a balance between overseeing the operational side of the office and working closely with my team. I manage and mentor my team, guiding them to develop into future leaders while ensuring that all contracts run smoothly. I start by reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring we are on track with our clients. I spend a lot of time liaising with clients to address any concerns, provide updates, and ensure we are meeting their expectations. I also make it a point to meet with clients in person, adding that personal touch to our relationship. To me, our clients are like family, and I am dedicated to nurturing that relationship.
What advice would you give to women thinking about a career in the bus, coach and community transport sector?
My advice would be JUST GO FOR IT! This industry offers diverse opportunities that can lead to fulfilling and rewarding careers. Do not be afraid to take on new responsibilities and challenges. Being confident and your perspective as a woman is incredibly valuable; so, do not be afraid to voice it. Seek mentorship and be confident. I believe that you must write your own success story. And most importantly Believe in YOURSELF.
What has been your bus, coach or community transport sector career highlight?
I have successfully managed major contracts across transport clients including Transport UK, Stagecoach and Arriva. The responsibility to maintain strong relationships and delivering results and high service standard was incredibly rewarding. The feeling of making a positive impact of our work on communities was a huge accomplishment.
What three things could the bus, coach and community transport sector do to improvement the industry for Women?
Offer Flexible Work Options:
To encourage more women drivers with flexible times so that they can cater to childcare. The provision to support women with caregiving responsibilities or those seeking a better work-life balance.
Provide Mentorship and Development Opportunities:
Building structured mentorship programs and offering training that focuses on career progression for women could help them feel more supported and confident in their careers.
Support Women’s Health and Well-being:
Providing programs and resources to address the specific health and well-being needs of women; including mental health support, women’s health initiatives, and creating safer environments on the job, would show a strong commitment to supporting women in the sector. Additionally, offering support for women going through menopause or dealing with other gender-specific health issues would ensure a more inclusive and understanding workplace.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
In 5 years, I see myself continuing to grow within the bus and coach sector, possibly taking on a more senior leadership role where I can drive and mentor others and contribute more to the industry. I also aim to continue developing my skills in both recruitment and operational management, while exploring new opportunities that align with my passion for connecting people and driving excellence.
Anything else you would like to share?
It has been a rewarding journey so far, and I am excited to continue contributing to the sector’s growth while advocating for greater inclusivity and representation for women. The work we do has a real impact on communities and that is something I am proud to be a part of.
