Did you experience any challenges getting to where you are today?

No issues slight delays but nothing significant.

What do you like about the bus, coach or community transport sector?

Family feel, new challenges every day, the people.

What does a typical day look like?

No two days are ever the same, but filled with challenges, people and working together to find the best outcome for our staff and our customers.

What advice would you give to women thinking about a career in the bus, coach or community transport sector?

Go for it, its one of the most welcoming and caring industries I have worked in and I have had so many opportunities within my career of 20 years now.

Driver to mentor, mentor to NVQ assessor to inspector, to events coordinator to managerial roles.

I’ve worked at international air shows, F1 events, horse racing, common wealth games, Olympics and more in my time with stagecoach.

What has been your bus, coach or community transport sector career highlight?

all that I have achieved really progressing through the ranks, I knew very early on that I loved this industry and wanted to progress and I managed it all while living a normal life, balancing  family, children, divorce and starting again. I’ve come so far and I am very proud to juggle the impossible or so it seemed some days.

What three things could the bus, coach or community transport sector do to improve the industry for women?

Get the word out there that there is great opportunities for all within our industry.

Things have come along way for us ladies in the 20 years I have been here.

What changes have you seen since in the sector since you joined?

  • Better fitting uniform and more options
  • Better facilities
  • Freebies boxes in the ladies toilets for essentials
  • Better flexibility – flexible working requests

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

Hopefully still an operations Manager.
