The Women in Bus and Coach “Spotlight On” initiative shines a light on the incredible contributions of women in all roles across the bus, coach, and community transport sector. From professional drivers and engineers to human resources experts and CEO’s, ‘Spotlight On’ will highlight the diverse talents and achievements of women in this dynamic industry.
Today we focus on and find out about:
Rhiannon Carroll
Supervisor
Unicorn Travel Wrexham Limited
How did you get to where you are today?
After growing up around the industry it was inevitable that I’d end up driving coaches.
What do you like about the bus, coach or community transport sector?
Every day is different and full of surprises it’s never a dull day in the job!
What does a typical day look like?
Mornings tend to be based around admin and finance with afternoons being dedicated to driving contracts or private hire.
What advice would you give to women thinking about a career in the bus, coach or community transport sector?
As daunting as it looks to be driving coaches and involved in the industry it’s a lot more easier and welcoming than it’s portrayed.
What has been your bus, coach or community transport sector career highlight?
Highlight has got to be Vice Chairperson of the North Wales Coach Operators Association.
What changes have you seen since in the sector since you joined?
When I first joined in our area we had very little support from some organisations but slowly more organisations are coming into our area holding seminars etc.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
In 5 years time I will hopefully hold the Transport Manager qualification, taking on more roles within our family business.
Thank you for sharing Rhiannon, what a great story!
