Women in Bus and Coach are proud to sponsor a place on the Women in Transport LEAD Programme for Spring 2025 through our bursary scheme. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for a woman working in bus, coach or community transport to gain invaluable professional development at senior level.
About the Bursary
This bursary is designed to support women groups who face barriers to accessing funding, particularly those who are self-employed, working in SMEs, charities, or non-profits. The programme is most beneficial for those who can apply the learning directly in their current role, helping to foster career progression and leadership development.
Key Timelines
- Applications close: 26 March 2025
- Notification of award: 31 March 2025
- Onboarding session: By agreement between 1-8 April 2025
- Programme first session: 12 April 2025
The LEAD Programme requires a time commitment, and we strongly recommend discussing participation with your line manager where relevant. The onboarding process includes a one-hour virtual meeting with one of the programme facilitators. We encourage line managers to attend this session to better understand the programme’s value and support the participant’s career growth.
Application Process
To apply for this bursary, click here or email hello@womeninbusandcoach.org.uk. Please note that while we will notify all applicants of the outcome, we are unable to provide individual feedback. The recipient agrees to work with Women in Bus and Coach to provide feedback on the programme to inform future bursaries, highlight the programme and the recipients involvement where appropriate on WiBC social media/newsletter, be supported in writing a blog or article on what they have gained from the programme, in support of WiBC’s aim of reducing barriers and increasing the number of women in senior leadership roles in the bus, coach and community transport sector.
Additional Benefits
Priority will be given to women who would otherwise be unable to pay for or gain sponsorship for this programme, and those in senior roles who want to progress. Additionally, at our discretion, Women in Transport will provide a one-year complimentary membership to the bursary recipient if they are not currently a member. This will grant full access to their professional network for 12 months, further enhancing the benefits of the programme.
